Load Bearing Wall: Doorway Opening

The owner of this home wanted to remove a wall that included a bar opening and a doorway.  In order to do so, they needed an inspection to determine if it was a load-bearing wall and if it was, they needed a letter from an engineer.

Our load-bearing analyst crawled in the attic and identified that the wall was load bearing.  We then designed the beam that would be used to span that wall to allow for an opening.

BE AWARE – It is a requirement in all cities and counties in Texas require have an engineering firm design and approve structural changes.  A signed and sealed engineering letter is required to open and close structural modification permits.  If a letter is not completed, the structural will undergo difficulty when selling the home and many times, without the oversight of an engineer, contractors will make big mistakes with their beam design.
