Our professional structural engineers create top-notch foundation repair plans and engineering reports to lead your project, whether it be for a slab foundation or a pier and beam foundation. In fact, we have a track record of success with all types of foundation repair permitting agencies.
When Do You Need a Foundation Repair Permit?
Legally, you need to obtain a permit for any foundation repair that is completed on a structure. In addition, when selling the home, proper documentation will allow your buyer to obtain a loan and engineering oversight will ensure that you aren’t caught up in a dispute over whether the repairs were completed correctly. If your contractor is not pulling a permit, they are doing you an injustice and may not be transparent in their dealings.
It is also worth mentioning that the Dallas/Ft. Worth Metroplex is rampant with undereducated, sly and in many cases, fraudulent contractors selling improper repairs. Once the work is installed and they have been paid, you may never hear from them again. We highly recommend that a professional check their work before they are paid to ensure your work is completed properly. Even good contractors require oversight by a professional in order to minimize their mistakes and in order to provide quality control and assurance.
Before you can obtain a permit, you’ll need an engineering report or a construction plan. That means before a contractor can start a home foundation repair project, you’ll need a professional engineering report. Our engineers have submitted for and obtained permits across the Dallas and Fort Worth Metroplex area. Whether you’re looking for City of Dallas, City of Fort Worth, City of Arlington or anywhere in the Metroplex, our experts at Crosstown Engineering can help determine exactly what you need and how to get you there.
Why do I need a tunneling permit and/or a compaction or backfill letter?
Compaction of a plumbing tunnel is a very important part of the tunneling process. If you have plumbing leak that requires a tunnel, it’s important that you have an engineer inspect the tunnel to ensure that it is constructed in a way that will minimize damages or potential damages to the performance of the foundation. In addition, it is important that the backfill and compaction process be completed properly! The city requires that a permit be completed to ensure this process of inspection is completed by the engineer.
