Fate, Texas

The town of Fate was settled soon after the Civil War in the 1860s and it served as an oasis for travelers because it somehow never ran dry. The town is said to be named after an army captain named William Lafayette Brown whose nickname was “Fate”. The town began to develop and in 1886 the Missouri-Kansas-Texas railroad constructed a line to run through a nearby village. This village was called Barnes, and since they had no post office they needed access to Fate’s so they also took the name and combined each other’s resources. Fate became officially incorporated in 1900 and by that time it was a busy and bustling town. The town suffered multiple fires that stunted business growth a bit, but they always bounced back. Since then, Fate has grown exponentially and there are a lot of new subdivision developments that help boost the population. Now there are around 275 new construction home communities available on the market and with trends showing a cool buyers market, it may be the perfect time to start calling Fate home. The other homeowners here have enjoyed watching the values of their homes steadily rise since 2012.
