Interestingly enough, the town now known as Farmers Branch was originally called “mustang” as was settled in 1842 by a couple. The name was eventually changed to Farmers Branch as it became known for the rich soil and crops that flourished here. In 1877 the Dallas and Wichita railroad built a depot on Farmers Branch and much later in 1946 the town was officially incorporated. Today the area is seen as an oasis of small town life where they have world-class arts, great shopping and schools, and booming businesses that enjoy lower tax rates. In regards to real estate, there are an incredible 713 new construction home communities available, which is super exciting for this community. Here, homeowners have been pleased to see increasing home values since 2012 and the much higher median list price per square foot than the Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington metro average.
